Traveling Mat Yoga visited Saje Wellness in Alberta! Since I've never been to Alberta before, I treated this trip as a mini yoga retreat for myself. A retreat filled with adventures and exploration! I invite you to come along for the ride as I share my top Alberta picks with you!
Where to stay
I must say, Banff is one of the most stunning places I've ever been! (I have a soft spot for mountains) The heavenly place is filled with great hikes, views, and restaurants! Ironically, with so much to do, eat, and see, one of the highlights of my trip was actually the hotel I stayed at. I had the pleasure of staying at the Rimrock hotel for two days. If I could live there, I would! The view from my hotel room was breathtaking. I stayed on the 9th floor which looked out to the Sulphur Mountains. The hotel room was spacious and my favourite thing about the room were the lounge chairs and table by the big windows. I happily sat in the lounge chair watching the gondolas go up and down Sulphur mountain for hours. Not to mention, their amenities are incredible! Beautiful view of the mountains during your work out sesh at the gym and a swim in the pool? Yas please!
I did the hike up Sulphur Mountain which is 5.5k (one way) and about 2100 feet high. The day of the hike I was feeling fearless so I ran up instead! I must admit, towards the top I had to make a few breaks due to altitude but it was so worth my sweaty effort! The view was literally breathtaking! You may even see some wildlife on your way up which make it that much more entertaining! I also took the Parks Canada bus to Lake Louise. The wonderful thing about Banff is their transportation! Parks Canada has buses that run daily to a various of places (Jasper, Canmore, Lake Louise, etc), covering your adventure spirits!
Where to eat
My tummy was always full when I was in Calgary! So much good food and not enough belly room was the problem. For my vegan friends, you must pay Veg-In YYC a visit! The causal cafe has got your taste-buds covered! They've got samosa poutines! need I say more? As for my meat lover, I've got you too! Hayden Block is the bomb.ca! They serve a wide-range of BBQ goodies on trays. Do yourself a favour and go there with friends so you can try everything on the menu! Lastly, my absolute favourite has to be the Native Tongues. A fun little Mexican restaurant that has the tastiest tacos, drinks, and fun desserts! I highly recommend sitting at the bar and ordering the TUNA CONTRAMAR!!! So YUM!
Where to shop
Last but my least, no matter where you are in the world, check out Saje Wellness for your skincare and essential oil needs! This Canadian private company prioritizes your skin and health with only the most natural ingredients in their products. The husband and wife founders were curating their own natural skincare creations after their own struggles with a series of health issues. After successfully experimenting with their creations, they decided to spread the love to the rest of us with their lovely products. Some of my staples are the Yoga Antibacterial Mat Spray and the Peppermint Halo.
The yoga mat spray is a yogi must have! What I love the most about the spray is the grounding effect it has on me. The scent is perfect for before and after your practice!
The Peppermint Halo is soothing and can help relieve headaches! This is such a lovely natural alternative to combat those terrible headaches. They're also great smelling too!
A special thanks to the wonderful team at Saje Wellness in Calgary! Especially the store manager, Amy for introducing me to the wonderful products and sharing her love and passionate for Saje.
